Can we make tax deductible donations?
SigEp National - Donations made via SigEp National are tax deductible and can be assigned to support many different programs for educational purposes. For building the new SigEp Indiana Eta house, there are some caveats. (See IN Eta Facility Fund for further definition.)
There are plenty of funds in which Indiana Eta is able to completely use all the donated dollars to pay the expenses of actives of the Indiana Eta Chapter to attend Carlson Leadership Academy (CLA), Conclave, and Ruck. Learn more. Indiana Eta also has a balance man scholarship given out every year to one or more incoming freshman.
- Indiana Eta Facility Fund – This fund is used to support the building and operations of the new house. Contributions to this fund have a use restriction in that funds are only able to be used for educational purposes. This means if you are wanting to donate to something like the new house project it is very difficult to utilize those funds. Only a certain percentage of the house is considered educational space and that restricts how much the Indiana Eta AVC can use in tax deductible funds to build it. This is a government regulation and as such we are unable to bypass it. So, the primary source of funds for building the house are unavailable from this source. The chapter recommends you donate to building the house, if possible, via a Direct Donation to Indiana Eta. (However, if you must have the tax deduction, Indiana Eta AVC does not discourage this option for New House Build donations.)
- IN Eta BMS Direct – The BMS direct fund is the bucket for general non-specific donations where the dollars can be allocated to where most needed.
- IN Eta Carlson Endowment – This program gives new officers a boost of personal leadership development. It focuses on teaching the skills to help them inspire brothers, manage a committee and follow through on those goals. Officers build a supportive cohort of brothers in their roles to network with throughout the year.
- IN Eta Ruck Endowment – The Frank J. Ruck Leadership Institute prepares actives to lead culture change, reaching beyond our chapter and campus and into your community. Executive-level alumni mentors work with you on how to engage in challenging and meaningful conversations — a skill not often taught on campus.
- IN Eta Conclave Endowment – Every two years, Sigma Phi Epsilon hosts the largest gathering of its members across the nation, the Grand Chapter Conclave. Conclave brings together undergraduate and alumni brothers from across the country to recognize high achievement, inspire continued success and leave a legacy on the national organization.
- IN Eta Scholarship – Indiana Eta AVC also has a balance man scholarship given out every year to one or more incoming freshman.
