Our chapter was originally founded in 1961 as Theta Tau Upsilon, by two men named Robert Swindell and Robert Marshall. In 1963, it became an official part of the Sigma Phi Epsilon national fraternity as the Indiana Eta chapter.
In the nearly 60 years since then, it has remained a fixture of greek life on the Indiana Tech campus, earning national awards such as the Excelsior Award, Hoop of Steel Society Award, a Grand Chapter Scholarship Cup, and several Manpower Excellence Awards. Finally, the Indiana Eta chapter holds two Buchanan Cups, awarded in 1989 and 1995. The Buchanan Cup is the highest recognition a chapter can receive from the national fraternity, and denotes excellence in all areas of chapter operation.
