New House Progress
The Indiana Eta New House Committee of the Alumni Volunteer Corporation (AVC) is getting very excited about the progress we have made in planning and building the new house for SigEp Indiana Eta. Since we first dreamed of a new house just off-campus 18 years ago, the dream is coming alive. The new house will be built right alongside the existing house just across Washington Blvd directly across from the center of the IIT campus. The existing house is scheduled to be demolished after the new house is completed. Our development schedule has us selecting a contractor no later than March with completion of the buildout and ready for occupancy for the Spring Semester, January 2025. The architectural drawings for the house are 80% complete. The design of the exterior is nearly complete and is shown in the following artist renderings.
The materials and colors for the house are still to be completed.
The house is a two-story ground level structure with five bedrooms upstairs and a handicap accessible bedroom on the ground floor with a study room that can be configured as a sixth bedroom.
The committee believes that this house fits within the vision we had set out for the new house:
- Highlight the past - incorporate history and the old house in some way
- Open and inviting entry
- Unique to campus but still fits within context
- Stand out - attract attention to Greek life
- Outdoor gathering
- Spaces that encourage community - bring people together
Planning for the new house is being done in keeping within our build-budget from the donations kindly committed with most already in hand by Alumni and Friends of Sig Ep IN Eta. Some of those outstanding that for whatever reason stalled are now coming to completion. This is very important in that we obviously cannot plan to build a house with funds that we may not have in place to do so.
We will be continuing to monitor costs to get the best bang for our bucks but as usual with eyes wide open we know we may not get all that we want in the initial finished product. Helping with this process are some volunteers giving their time to complete items that would otherwise add to our build cost.
Much work has yet to be done and as with any project, there is always a need for additional funds to complete interior furnishings and landscaping for example but we feel that will come from additional donations and we are excited to complete the work necessary to achieve success on this schedule.

Indiana Eta alumni is comprised of over 560 living alumni of which we were unable to reach all of you during the campaign due to many reasons but the primary being that we do not have updated communication information for you. It is important to keep our database up-to-date, so if you are not receiving information via snail mail for instance on our upcoming 60th Anniversary that was sent out mid-December, then we don’t have a good mailing address for you. Drop us a line via email to me with your contact information; mailing address; phone number; email any time there is a change to update our records.
